Oita Operations
We are striving to maintain good communication with our neighbors and children who will carry the future on their shoulders.
"Oita Operations Environment Exhibition" (June)
We explain environmental preservation undertaken by companies (such as chemical substance management, wastewater treatment, and waste separation etc.). We also arrange a facility tour and experience-based environment course, allowing people to actually see and touch. Furthermore, we are planning to offer 'delivery service' of the experience-based environment course to elementary and junior high school students in the neighborhood. (For 11 schools, about 1500 students)

Disposable Chopstick Collection and Aluminum Can Collection (year-round)
We collect disposable chopsticks used by the employees at their offices, then clean and dry them on our own. After that, we provide those chopsticks without charge for papermaking companies so that they can reuse them to produce paper. For every ton of the chopsticks, 1000 yen is donated to associations which support the environmental preservation activities encouraged by the United Nations. As for collecting aluminum cans, we gather those found not only in the offices but also in homes on a regular basis. We sell the collected cans to businesses in order to contribute the proceeds to the local woodland improvement association. The donations are used for tree planting and for the fund to take care of the woodland.
Environment events (August and December)
During the Oita Operations summer festival, the Operations has approximately 15,000 visitors from the neighborhood. We show them how the factory has been working for environmental preservation in a quiz format, giving gifts to those who give correct answers. Also we held a factory tour for the employee's families in December, where the factory's activities are introduced by means of true-or-false questions about recycling, wastewater treatment, and effective utilization of resources.
